Taking 'Shape': Unlocking a healthier, happier life
Last week we introduced the shape series on Monday motivation with Julie Black and we focused on spirituality. Well, today we're talking health in the four HS to support a healthy life. Julie, good morning, good to see you as always. Great to be here. You ready for the next letter or what's up? Let's do it, let's do it. All right, H is for health, and we're going to start off by talking about harmony. Yes. So you remember that saying work life balance. I hate that saying. I don't hate much because I think about balance. I think about measuring, hopping on one foot. You're trying to balance. But as a singer, what makes beautiful sound is harmony. So I've swapped the word balance for harmony, Work life harmony. Find a nice blend with different areas of your life. It just makes for so much more ease. Let's be, let's it being frantic. Let's try to juggle and just sometimes, because if you, when you think about balance, sometimes you, you can't achieve the balance. It's gonna be imbalance. And you can't, you don't wanna take on too much guilt about that 'cause there's just some days it's gonna, we're gonna be tipping over here. That's right. So you make a smoothie, you just blend it. You just blend it. Just harmonize, harmonize. Let's talk another H and we're gonna talk humor. OK, We need to laugh some more like that. When you get a deep, big belly laugh, it feels good. It's almost like. It's almost like you ate a great meal. You know what I'm saying, Jeff? Yeah, absolutely. So what are you doing to actually add humor to your life? Are you around people that are funny? Can you be funny? Can you be your true authentic self? Are you watching some comedy? Like, just. It's time for us to inject the humor into our lives and keep it there. The world heavy. There's a lot going on. Yeah. And don't be afraid to be a little goofy every now and again. I think if you look at your socks exactly right. Like what I'm saying, I love it. I love the socks. I was. I look forward to your socks. Seriously. Do you know what, though? This weekend went away with a couple of couples, a couple of my girlfriends and their husbands. And my girlfriend wrote to me on Sunday, 'cause Saturday was just a great day all around the the three couples and we're riding bikes. We're going to wineries. And we laughed. And my girlfriend said to me on Sunday, I haven't laughed like that in so long. It was just, it felt so good to just laugh. To just laugh. Yeah, yeah, it's important. It is important. Say laughter is the best medicine and it's free. All right. We touched last week on spirituality and faith. Talk to us a bit about how that relates to our next age, if you could, which is hope. Hope. How many times have we heard somebody say even as kids, don't get your hopes up. Better not get your hopes up. No, keep your hopes up. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. So we have to be hopeful. We have to like people. We're going through life like, Oh yeah, I believe and all. There's a lot of like gurus out there and, you know, be strong, be courageous, be resilient, all the things. But how about there's a little bit of hope, you know, and if we look at kids, you know, feel like, oh, I I hope I get to go to the, you know, amusement park. I hope I get. I hope I And there's there's a uplifting energy of. I hope so Wonder. Yeah. It's like genuine anticipation with them. Yes. Well, my guru. Hope is key for so much, though. When someone is grieving, it's hope what gets them through. Oh, gosh, that's who feel. I felt that one. Thank you. Thank you for saying that. It's hope that gets us through that one. Is that one. Yeah, you know, thank you. Let's talk hobbies as well. The importance of hobbies. We're going to talk another H, and I know you feel strongly about this one, so. OK. So what do you like to do for just sheer pleasure? Pleasure. Not much. All right, so this is the one H that Carolyn needs to work on. But I I do. I do like doing. Hold on. I'll. I'll take. And Chris is hobby. Chris always says when I write and he goes, what do you write as a hobby? Care 'cause like is nothing a hobby? Because you master that. Yeah, Baby Chilling. No, but I don't mind it. I don't know what you do. What do you like to do? Well, I was gonna say your hobby is karaoke. I know that. A lot of joy. The same. You almost forgot, right? How about you? Me. It's golf, although you might argue maybe that's my profession and this is my hobby. I golf so much. But yeah, yeah, I just love being outdoors. I love being social with people and I love competing. Yeah. You see, people think it's singing, 'cause that seems like the obvious thing. But I love to eat. I wanna be paid to. OK. They're all these food, you know, all these food bloggers. This Saturday, I'm about to be paid to eat. All right. Last week you delivered an awesome mantra. You have a new one for us. Yeah. So we have to move quick. Will repeat after me. My body is rested and my mind is clear. My body is rested and my mind is clear. I start my day with positive thoughts and positive energy. I start my day with positive thoughts and positive energy. I'm relaxed, non resistant and clear. I'm relaxed, unresistant and clear. That's it for today. Give yourselves a round of applause. Hello. Hello. Wish we could rewind the clock and then you come into work. Work. It's I saw you at 7. You needed to say I I was not relaxed. You're kind of resistant, not clear. And look at me now look at you now. Yes. Little bit of a little bit of age in your heart, right. Listen, before we let you go, we want to give your late mother, your late uncle, a shout out as we celebrate Father's Day of this week. Yes. You know, my my parents divorced as a kid and so my uncle Oscar stepped in and so I want to shout out Uncle Oscar for being a father figure. He passed away many years ago now they're both my angels. And so, you know, I want to shout out those who truly have stepped in as as father figures and, yeah, did, did, did the great work. Yeah. Yeah, sure. For sure. Jules, thank you so much. Thank you. Next week is a a abilities. There we go. Abilities. You better bring something to do. Yeah. Jeff, I I have hobbies, but no ability. Thank you. Good to see you, Julie.
