Russian Military Expert Claims Russia Plans Nuclear Attack

Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko has claimed that Russia is planning a nuclear attack. Korotchenko made these assertions during a television appearance on Russian state TV.

According to Marcus Oscarsson he stated that the Kremlin is planning a nuclear strike against American ships in response to President Joe Biden's recent authorization for Ukraine to use American weapons to defend Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city.

Nuclear Threats and Strategic Responses

Korotchenko asserted that Russia would respond to this decision with nuclear weapons, claiming that Russian vessels equipped with nuclear capabilities are stationed in the Atlantic, targeting American aircraft carriers.

"If an attack is carried out on an American aircraft carrier, it will be executed with special ammunition for maximum effectiveness, speed, and reliability," Korotchenko said, explaining that "special ammunition" refers to nuclear warheads on Russian ballistic missiles.

In light of these developments, several Russian warships, including a missile-equipped frigate and a nuclear-powered submarine, began exercises in the Atlantic and later arrived in Cuba.

The U.S. is closely monitoring the situation, with Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stating,

"We have been tracking the Russian plans. This comes as no surprise to us. We constantly monitor all ships operating near U.S. territorial waters."

Meanwhile, Johan Norberg, a research leader at the Swedish Defense Research Agency, considered a Russian military action in the Atlantic highly unlikely, suggesting it is more about political signaling than any meaningful military maneuver.
