Slater's blunt reply to Maguire's 'glass houses' jab

Queensland Maroons coach Billy Slater has offered a blunt response to his rival Michael Maguire as the fallout from Joseph Suaalii's hit on Reece Walsh continues.

Maguire was asked about the theory that the Blues intentionally targeted Walsh and hit back at the Maroons in a big way.

"You've got to make sure you don't live in glass houses, that's all I'll say," Maguire said on Monday morning.

Slater, who has been tight lipped around the drama surrounding Suaalii and Walsh, wasn't interested in trading barbs.

"I've heard the comment, I haven't watched the press conference. I don't really understand the comment to be honest," he said on Nine's 100% Footy.

Billy Slater had a quick response to Michael Maguire's jab.

The Maroons coach was pressed on whether he believed the comment surrounded any actions on the field or whether there was a personal gripe between him and Maguire.

"Not that I'm aware of, that's probably a question for him," Slater said.

"Like I said, I don't understand the situation and the whole context around it."

Blues legend and rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns saw the funny side behind the situation.

"How do you reckon his insurance policy would be, living in Melbourne in a glass house?" Johns joked on the show.

"With the rain and hail and that sort of stuff. He might have to breed a few more racehorses."
