Liverpool star Luis Diaz suffered a horror tackle in Colombia's 3-0 win over Bolivia on Saturday evening in a friendly that was anything but that.
The Colombian was influential as he scored an assisted in the routine victory, but sparked fears of a long-term injury lay-off when he was clattered into by an opposition player in a disgraceful challenge.
Chaos broke out in the 67th minute when Diaz was brought down from behind by Hector Cuellar who jumped in with a two-footed tackle.
Such was the ferocity of the challenge, the Bolivia defender came completely off the floor with both feet as he clattered into Diaz with both sets of studs showing.
Diaz somehow managed to avoid the worst of the tackle as both of Cuellar's shins caught the Colombian instead of his boots, but the Liverpool player was still left writhing in pain.

Not even playing the Copa America in just a friendly and he’s having to face players doing these type of tackles.

Fortunately for both Colombia and Reds fans, Diaz required only minimal treatment and was able to see out the remainder of the match unencumbered.
However, the tackle sparked fury amongst Colombia's ranks and a mass melee ensued as players from both teams clashed in the immediate aftermath, with two red cards later being shown, but shockingly neither to Cuellar.
Heavy pushing and grabbing during the brawl saw Daniel Munoz and Cesar Menacho sent off for their involvement, while Cuellar somehow was only shown a yellow for his outrageous tackle that ignited the chaos.

Liverpool fans have been left aghast after seeing the ugly challenge on Diaz and took to social media to vent their disgust and frustration.
Posting on X, one fan fumed: 'This is so unfair and should be discouraged' with another comically adding: 'Bros on a mission.'
Further outrage followed, with one Liverpool supporter stating: 'That guy should never play football again. If you do that in a friendly, i’m worried what you might do in a league or cup game.'
Another aggrieved fan commented on the refusal to send Cuellar off, adding: 'Not even a red card, what a disgrace.'
