Irish weather: Sunny spells and temperatures to hit 20 degrees – but heavy rain still on the cards

Sunny spells and dry stretches are on the way next week, but heavy rain is still possible for parts of the country, Met Éireann has said.

Sunday will begin dry and sunny but cloud and rain will move across many parts of the country and temperatures will be between 13C and 18C.

Overnight it will stay somewhat mild with patchy rain and drizzle and temperatures of between 9C to 11C.

Next week will start out cloudy and there will be some rain and drizzle, though it will become drier as Monday goes on with the chance of some sunny spells appearing at times.

Highest temperatures tomorrow will be between 13C and 18C. There will be some light showers on Monday night and temperatures will stay between 7C and 11C.

Tuesday morning will be cloudy with some showers mainly around northern coastal areas. Conditions will improve as the day goes on with sunny spells developing and temperatures between 13C and 17C.

Overnight it will be colder, with temperatures falling to between 4C and 7C.

Sunny spells that will turn hazy in parts of the south are forecast for Wednesday with highest temperatures to be between 15C and 19C. Overnight though, it will become cloudy with rain moving in and temperatures between 7C and 12C.

By Thursday, there will be no sign if any summer weather as rain and cloud is set to spread across the country, turning heavy at times. It could be warm in places though and temperatures will be between 15C and 20C.

"The end of the week looks to turn more unsettled as low-pressure systems feed in rain and showers, particularly over the north and west,” Met Éireann said.
