Sam Adams founder loaning to businesses banks won’t touch
Well, we've been doing it since 2008 and over those. 16 years, we've created 11,500 jobs in local communities all over the country and that's more jobs than we've created in Boston Beer Company. And to me that's it's really very rewarding because it's something that we can do and be involved in. Versus writing a check that never seemed like this great idea for philanthropy is just writing a check and putting it in the mail for us. We wanted something that we could be involved in. We would leverage who we are as a company and we're entrepreneurial and we have great people with great talents who want to share that and this. The mentoring and the coaching and the counseling is the key to the success of this we've made. 4300 loans, the repayment rate on them and we're loaning to you know mom and pop three person businesses that banks don't even want to look at we have a 98% repayment rate only one in fifty of our loans defaults which and this is not a philanthropic program for the loan recipients we want them to pay the money back because then we can loan it to somebody else and. It's been successful through this coaching and counseling to these small businesses.
