Clive Myrie 'shaken' by death threats - including 'kind of bullet killer would use'
Clive Myrie has told how he was left “shaken” after receiving death threats.
The newsreader and Mastermind host, who will co-present the BBC ’s election night coverage, said he has received more racist abuse since he became more “visible”. On BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Clive said: “One chap issued death threats... and [they] involved talking about the kind of bullet he’d use in the gun to kill me. I was shaken for a while.”
The 59-year-old, whose parents were Jamaican, also spoke about how the Windrush scandal affected his family. His brother Peter died while fighting to stay in the UK. An emotional Clive said: “It’s just very, very sad.”
Earlier this week it was announced that Clive will be joined by Laura Kuenssberg, with the pair leading the BBC's election coverage on July 4. The two news anchors will be at the helm of the general election night TV coverage on BBC network news.

They will be joined by BBC political editor Chris Mason from the BBC London studio. On the night, coverage will feature analysis from Reeta Chakrabarti as the results as they come in. BBC Radio 2 host Jeremy Vine will bring back the famous swingometer as he broadcasts from Cardiff.
Kirsty Wark will be reporting from Glasgow and Andrea Catherwood from Belfast. Hosts Laura and Clive will also be joined by the "expert's expert" Professor Sir John Curtice to give his specialist knowledge and insights.
