Son, 75, beats up 95-year-old mom for barring him from leaving home

A 75-year-old man beat up his 95-year-old mother in Ilocos Norte after he was allegedly barred from leaving their home.

In Raffy Tima’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the man was captured on camera hurting his mother.

In one of the CCTV footage, the son was caught pushing his mother inside a room.

He was also seen repeatedly hitting his mother inside a room, despite her cries. At one point, the son also slapped the victim, which made her fall down again on the bed.

“Mayroon silang hindi pagkakaintindihan. Itong anak na suspek natin, nagpaalam sa kanyang nanay na pupunta sa isang burol. Nairita itong anak kaya nagawa niyang saktan,” said Solsona Municipal Police Station chief Police Captain Randy Damo.

(They had a misunderstanding. The son, who is our suspect, asked permission from his mother that he would go to a burial. But he got annoyed, so he hurt her.)

The elderly woman was immediately rescued after a barangay councilor responded, the report said. It added that the mother, who is now in good condition, does not plan to file any charges against her son.

“Ayaw naman niyang maghabla kaya ang isang intervention na lang natin, both of them will undergo counseling. ‘Yung anak naman niya ang kusang loob namang humingi ng tawad sa kanyang nanay,” Damo added.

(She doesn’t want to sue him, so one of the interventions we thought of is to have both of them undergo counseling. The son asked for forgiveness from his mother.)
