Chicago Sky Coach Turns Heads With Abrupt Walkout After Mystics Loss
The Chicago Sky came into the 2024 season turning heads with their surprising success. It was clear that the Sky would see some struggles with first-year head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, but they looked clean from mistakes in May.
Weatherspoon and the Sky have now hit a wall. Chicago is in the middle of a three-game losing streak, recently dropping to the Washington Mystics, 83-81, on the road.
There's clearly an ongoing issue with the Sky, and frustrations are rising in Chicago. Following the Friday night loss, Weatherspoon stormed out of the press conference, leaving the last answer of the presser up in the air.
"How are you going to use this as a measuring stick to assess whether or not maybe some changes need to happen," asked a reporter, via Vanshay Murdock on X.

Weatherspoon hit the table with anger and walked out of the press conference after the reporter's question, visibly in distress.
The first-year head coach now has to navigate through the team's biggest hurdle this season. She has talented players on the roster who have proven to be consistent contributors, but the dots haven't been connecting.
Chicago has two of the top rookies in the league, Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. Reese is the only rookie averaging a double-double, while Cardoso is slowly getting back in action after suffering a shoulder injury in the preseason.
Four of their five starters have averaged double digits this season. Talent isn't the issue in Chicago, but Weatherspoon needs to figure out what is.
