With 25 points in the first half of NBA Finals Game 4, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic eclipsed 1,500 postseason points for his career. Just the 9th player in NBA history to reach that mark at age 25 of younger, Doncic joined Kobe Bryant, Jayson Tatum, Tony Parker, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, and Magic Johnson (via Basketball Reference's StatHead).
Doncic is off to a historic start to his NBA career, have broken several records in the regular season and postseason with his quick ascent to superstardom. While he would love to add an NBA championship to that resume, Doncic and the Mavericks would have to become the first team in NBA history to erase a 3-0 deficit.
Doncic hasn't been perfect in this Finals series, but he has played very well, averaging 29.7 PPG, 9.0 RPG, and 6.0 APG coming into Game 4. The five turnovers per game for Doncic stick out, and are something he has expressed a need to limit, but overall he has played very well despite his team's three-straight losses.
If the Mavericks are unable to make history and come back in this series, it will still be an overall very good season, as this group was not expected to make it this far. For Doncic, the NBA Finals experience will go a long way for his individual growth as one of the future all-time great players in this league.
For now, Dallas is looking to take this one game at a time.
