A former NFL player spent Sunday morning in a Dallas jail after a tense standoff with police at a local convenience store.
Retired Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew was arrested at 2am Sunday at a 7-Eleven, where he punched and broke a glass door while arguing with officers, as seen in surveillance footage released by TMZ.
The cause of the argument remains unclear, but officers felt compelled to draw their tasers.
Fortunately, the 6-foot-5 Pettigrew was taken into custody without further incident. He was released Sunday afternoon after being charged with criminal mischief.
Dallas Police did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com's request for further information.

Previously Pettigrew was arrested for a 2017 disturbance at a reported bar fight in Dallas, and in 2018 he was accused of aggravated assault in Pittsburgh following a dispute over an unpaid limousine bill. The Pennsylvania charges were ultimately dropped.
A native of nearby Tyler, Texas, Pettigrew was a standout on offense and defense at Robert E. Lee High School before attending Oklahoma State.
Pettigrew was among the most prolific tight ends in the country while with the Cowboys, prompting the Detroit Lions to select him with in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft.
He would go on to start in 85 of his 93 career NFL games, catching 17 touchdown passes and accumulating 2,965 receiving yards.
Pettigrew was released by the Lions in 2016 while recovering from a knee injury he suffered the previous season.
