Moment woman who 'stole' jacket claims that she is the victim after being confronted by Santa Monica boutique manager

This is the moment a woman claimed she was a victim when a Santa Monica boutique manager confronted her about allegedly stealing jackets from a store.

The dramatic incident took place on April 12 outside of Gramercy Boutique on Montana Avenue as the manager, Amber Jolly, caught a young woman walking out of the store with suspected stolen merchandise.

As Jolly recorded the unidentified woman leaving the store, she made her hand over the alleged stolen jackets as she told Jolly that what the manager was doing was 'illegal.'

After the suspected thief handed over the jackets she walked away as Jolly yelled: 'Don't f****** show you f****** face on Montana Avenue again!'

Jolly told CBS News that she felt that she had to confront the woman because theft has been at an all-time high in California.

'Businesses are closing left and right because of all this looting going on. The system is broken, nothing is being done about it,' Jolly said.

Video of the incident starts with Jolly screaming in the woman's face and grabbing the handles of her tote bag outside of the store.

'You got my jacket and you need to give it back to me right now,' Jolly tells her.

The woman responds: 'Bro, you know what you're doing is illegal, you are not able to-.'

'You give me my jacket right now,' Jolly repeats to the woman as she tries to back up from her.

'You give me my jacket right now,' Jolly says again as she grips the woman's wrist.

She continues: 'I'm not gonna have you stealing from my store!'

The accused thief then backs up toward the wall behind her as Jolly screams: 'You're such a b****! Give it back to me.'

The woman, dressed in black leggings, a white blazer and sneakers then digs into one of her handbags and says: 'Geesh, you're not allowed to touch.'

'You are on video and you are going to get arrested if you don't give me back my jacket right now,' Jolly tells her.'

The woman insists that the store manager is 'not allowed to touch' her as Jolly yells: 'Give me back my f****** jacket.

The woman then looks inside her white bag, pulls out a light blue jacket and drops it on the ground.

'Here you go,' the woman says to Jolly.

'Give me the other one,' Jolly says as she shoves the woman back.

'Don't steal from my f****** store,' Jolly says as the woman whips out a light green jacket from her purse.

'Here you go, you're not allowed to touch me,' the woman tells the manager calmly.

'Give me the other one,' Jolly tells her as she blocks her from leaving.

'That's it, that's all there is,' the woman tells her as Jolly says: 'Let me look in you f****** bag!'

'Yeah, well that's illegal,' the woman replies.

'Let me look in you f****** bag,' Jolly repeats.

'This is all my stuff,' the woman says as she pulls out items from her purse.

Jolly asks her: 'Is it?'

'Yeah, it is,' the woman responds.

'Don't f****** show you f****** face on Montana Avenue again,' Jolly yells at the woman as she shoves her.

The video ends with the woman walking away from the store manager.

Jolly told CBS News that after the screaming match with the woman she called the police, but they told her to contact her insurance company.

'I just think it's like, the people are trying to get away with it because there's no consequences,' she said.

The defiant manager said that she had a 'meltdown reaction' because she was concerned for her community, including the woman she confronted.

'I'm worried for her and she's already doing this.'

It is unclear if Jolly or the owner of the store filed a police report against the woman. DailyMail.com contacted the Santa Monica Police Department for information.

The owner told Jolly that she is not expected to confront suspected thieves and that her safety is their top priority, CBS News reported.

According to the boutique's Instagram page, the store sells a variety of clothing for men, women, children and babies.

Montana Avenue is known as the 'premier destination street on the West Side,' according to the Montana Ave website.

Along with the boutique there are numerous clothing shops, health and beauty shops, banks, grocery stores, entertainment, and dining options.
