Munster rule out moving URC knockout games from Thomond Park to Páirc Uí Chaoimh
Munster have ended speculation regarding potentially moving their URC knockout games to Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
Instead, the province will hope to defend their URC title in Thomond Park, with last weekend’s bonus-point win over Ulster guaranteeing them home advantage for as long as they remain in the competition.
Although Munster have taken on a South Africa XV and the Crusaders at the home of Cork GAA, Graham Rowntree’s men are yet to play a competitive fixture at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
That may be something the powers-that-be look at for next season, but as things stand, Munster have no plans to play any of what they hope will be a run of three knockout games outside of Thomond Park.
The Ospreys will travel to Limerick for Friday night’s quarter-final, and should Munster, who finished as top seeds, advance to the last four, they will also have home advantage, as they would for a potential final.
