Kildare murder: Man dies after being 'stabbed in chest during party' as locals tell of shock
Gardai are investigating after a man was brutally stabbed in the chest and died - following a suspected row at a party last night.
The Irish Mirror understands that a 39-year-old man, who is originally from Moldova, was stabbed at the back of a house in Sallins Park, Sallins, Co Kildare in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardai have now launched a murder investigation into the incident - and arrested a 23-year-old man. The arrested man is understood to have been known to the victim.
The victim, who is understood to have been living in the area for some time, was struck once in the chest - amid a suspected row with the man known to him during a late night party at the house.
Sources say there was a gathering at the back of the property, and that the row escalated in the early hours of the morning. Gardai were alerted to the scene at 3:15am and discovered the victim at the back of the property.
This morning the Garda Technical Bureau was seen combing the scene - removing several large evidence bags from the back garden of the property, which is located in a small cul de sac in The Close in Sallins Park. The body was removed from the scene shortly before lunchtime following a forensic examination of the area.

Shocked locals said they heard loud voices amid a party that was happening at the back garden of the home last night.
“There were a lot of raised voices but I couldn’t tell what was being said as it was in a foreign language,” one neighbour said.
“My dog was going mad at about 2am because of it but then it all kind of calmed down after that. Then the gardai came. I couldn’t believe it.”
Another local described those living at the house as being “a quiet, lovely family.”

In a statement gardai said that officers in Naas Garda Station are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the man.
“Gardaí and Emergency services were alerted shortly after 3:15am regarding an incident at a residential property in Sallins Park, Sallins,” the statement said.
"Upon arrival, a man in his 30s was discovered with fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. A man in his early 20s was arrested at the property and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in County Kildare”.
