It didn’t take long for J.J. McCarthy to both show his competitive chops in the NFL and also be completely humbled.
On the very first day of Minnesota Vikings rookie camp, the former Michigan quarterback made a bet with the defense. If he could get through skeleton passing drills with three or fewer incompletions, they’d have to run sprints. Anything more than three, he’d have to run.
As you can probably guess by now, McCarthy was the one who ended up running.

You have to love the confidence McCarthy has in himself. Maybe it’ll pay off in the long run. The 10th overall pick in this year's draft has +900 odds to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, which rank fourth best.
