Alex, from Saffron Walden, Essex, visited the Woburn Forest resort in Bedfordshire with his partner and two children last month. He begins his review by showing Center Parcs' website's 'fantastic date selector tool'.

He claims: 'You can figure out the kids' school holidays when it [the price] jumps up by a grand. So you know it's time to book that magical family trip away.'

He then checks into his 'ridiculously overpriced shed', before listing the host of activities the family experienced.

First up was go-karting.

In the video, Alex reveals a 'small concrete track' and pedal go-karts that require 'using your own energy'.

He sarcastically remarks: 'For four of us, for 20 minutes, it was only £41.'

Next on the list was football pool.

Revealing a giant pool table on the floor with footballs on top, Alex says: 'Yeah, just don't bother with kids. [It was] £14.50 for half an hour.

Running through the next round of activities, Alex says: 'Kids' cupcake decorating, £27 for two kids for 45 minutes. S***.

'Kid's mini jet skis, £25 for two for a whole nine minutes at 9:30 in the morning. S***.'

Then, a ray of sunshine. He describes Center Parcs' interactive squash, which cost £18 for 45 minutes, as 'actually decent' and says it 'knackers the kids out'.

Next in the montage is a game of badminton, for which he paid £18 for 45 minutes. Alex says it's 'not bad, just get a good partner'.

But then more disappointments. His footage reveals a room full of interactive lights and a giant toy owl, which turns out to be the resort's 'Winter Quest' activity.

The verdict? '[I paid] £49 for 20 minutes. I repeat, £49. Absolutely s***,' says Alex.

He was also let down by the resort's mini jeeps. For his two kids to ride the 4x4s for 20 minutes, he says it cost £49. Defeated, he says: 'I don't even know where to start.'

Alex then moves on to Center Parcs' Pottery Painting Studio, which he claims 'tops the lot'.

He says: 'This has to be the biggest extortion racket in British history - £18 to book for three, you'd think, "Yeah, not bad." But that's just to get in.

'Now they've got you, you're inside. Kids are buzzing. Time to buy a bit of mass-manufactured s*** to paint.

'One mug, one train, one pot later, and I'm 76 quid down.'

Alex claims: 'Unless you can get your kids to swim and cycle around aimlessly for the entire week. You're f*****.'

The total cost of activities mentioned in Alex's review amounts to an eyewatering £335.50.

And, 'this isn't even the half of it', he says.

Filming the resort's supermarket and revealing a £3.60 jar of Dolmio's Bolognese Sauce, Alex says: 'The food prices are a p***take.' He also claims there's a 'pandemic of dry robes', as he films a stranger wearing a robe in a café at the resort.

Summarising his week-long stay, he says: 'Unless you can get your kids to swim and cycle around aimlessly for the entire week. You're f*****.'

His video sparked a mixed reaction when posted to social media. Some Instagram users were quick to agree with Alex, with one describing Center Parcs as  'daylight robbery' and another wondering 'why people big it up so much'.

User 'azizaramjane' commented: 'At last someone said it! At this rate you might just add a couple more thousand and go all-inclusive in a 5-star resort with guaranteed sun.'

However, others jumped to defend Center Parcs. User 'mikedinni' wrote: 'Thanks for this review. The more people that think it's overpriced the better. Keeps it nice and quiet for me. It's £420 for five days in March.'

User 'raddygriffinwood' added: 'Or just cycle around and use the pool for free. Share a lodge with extended family and it’s a whole lot cheaper. No one makes you book a load of activities.'

Center Parcs commented: 'Each year Center Parcs welcomes over 2.2million guests, which means we are pretty much full every day of the year. We strive to deliver a high-quality family short break and we re-invest millions of pounds each year to maintain the high standards which our guests expect and value - over 60 per cent of those who visit go on to make another booking with us.'
