Co Wexford election candidate withdraws from contest
Fine Gael local election candidate Edel Gahan has announced that she is withdrawing from the upcoming Gorey local election.
“After much reflection and careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw my candidacy from the Gorey Kilmuckridge local election due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. It has been an absolute privilege to engage in canvassing, where I had the opportunity to meet so many people right at their doorsteps.”
“I am profoundly grateful for the support and encouragement I've received throughout this journey. The enthusiasm and backing from our community have been deeply appreciated. I regret any disappointment this decision may cause and thank everyone for their understanding and continued support,” said Edel.
In response to Edel’s withdrawal, Chairperson of Wexford Fine Gael Aaron Reville, thanked Edel for her unwavering commitment and hard work which she has demonstrated in the constituency and district.
“Edel is a person of great honesty and integrity, traits that have immensely benefited our community. While Edel's decision to withdraw from the local election is disappointing, I am hopeful that I can look forward to working with her again in the future. Edel’s experience and dedication will continue to be an invaluable asset to our community in her future endeavours,” said Aaron.
In relation to the reason for her withdrawal, Edel said “we can’t always account for people’s bad behaviour”.
