The UK's best spots for a Sunday roast have been named - and ranked - with the prize for the best dish going to a village pub in West Yorkshire.

So reveals Big 7 Travel, which asked its audience and editorial team for their favourite Sunday roasts year-round, from 'quaint country pubs to Michelin-starred establishments'.

The 20-strong ranking was drawn up from seven criteria - food presentation, taste, value for money, professional reviews, customer feedback, access to the venue, and venue atmosphere.

10. The Scran and Scallie, Edinburgh

Situated in Edinburgh's 'affluent' suburb of Stockbridge, The Scran and Scallie serves up 'quintessential seasonal Scottish food, says Big 7 Travel.

The pub uses 'locally sourced ingredients' and serves up 'a mean roast' among other dishes on the menu, says Big 7 Travel.

9. The Refuge, Manchester

'This trendy bar and restaurant in the heart of one of Manchester’s busiest streets combines international cuisine with the best of British cuisine to bring you high-quality, well-loved, and vibrant plates of food that you can’t get enough of,' says Big 7 Travel.

'As for the all-day roast dinners, you can choose between a sharing or individual roast plus all the trimmings and sides you know and love.

'If you want to go all out, you can add - for an additional charge - sides like pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese and bacon, onion, and sage stuffing balls. You can even order a roast for your dog.'

8. The Old Nun's Head, London

This good-time London pub in Nunhead serves up a lot more than Sunday roasts, including drag nights and cocktails galore. But its perfectly crafted plates of gravy goodness are what they’re most famous for.

So says Big 7 Travel, adding: 'They've nailed the gravy-to-meat ratio, and a healthy helping of roast potatoes, veggies, and mashed potato. The cherry on top - literally - is the pillowy Yorkshire pudding. The stuff Sunday roast dinner dreams are made of.

'It's an unpretentious roast dinner, while still being incredibly high-grade. They serve up a variety of vegetarian and vegan roasts, too.'

Prices range from £16 to £18. Children's roast is £10.

7. Cafe Van Gogh, London

This cafe in Brixton, south London, is the first all-vegan entry on the list. Its roast includes a vegan nut roast Wellington with roasties, seasonal veg and onion gravy

'The idea of a plant-based roast may not sound very appealing to meat-eaters,' says Big 7 Travel. 'However, this cafe succeeds at creating the same superb flavours of a classic roast using only plant-based ingredients.'

The dish comprises vegan nut roast Wellington with roasties, seasonal veg, Yorkshire pudding and onion gravy, the cafe told MailOnline Travel. The eatery also functions as a non-profit social enterprise, training people with additional needs to obtain job opportunities and independence.

Roast prices range from £16 to £17. 

6. Ju Ju's Cafe, Birmingham

This unsuspecting little cafe probably isn't the first place you’d think of when looking for a Sunday roast in Birmingham. However, the roasts served here place this cafe right at the top.

So says Big 7 Travel, which describes the food served here as 'warm and comforting and perfect for fuelling your day ahead'.

Its Sunday serving puts 'other roast dinners to shame', it adds, 'with the classics elevated to the next level with a unique twist'.

Main menu roasts start at £15, although prices may vary between dishes.

5. Kyloe, Edinburgh

Kyloe's roast is 'the best in Scotland', served with 'the fluffiest roasties, light and crispy Yorkshires, lashings of gravy, and succulent cuts of meat', says Big 7 Travel

'More than worthy of its place in the top five, Kyloe in Edinburgh certainly knows how to offer up a perfect roast dinner,' says Big 7 Travel.

The publication claims it's 'the best in Scotland' served with 'the fluffiest roasties, light and crispy Yorkshires, lashings of gravy, and succulent cuts of meat'.

This includes 'the finest dry-aged rump or sirloin steaks that are expertly carved'. The dish is 'made for sharing' and 'best enjoyed in groups of up to six people'.

Prices start from £55.

4. Blacklock Soho, London

The Sunday roasts at Blacklock Soho will rival anything that can be made at home, says Big 7 Travel. The dish is served 'within the comfort of an 'expert chophouse in one of London’s trendiest West End suburbs', it adds

That's according to Big 7 Travel, which says the restaurant has been 'relied upon by locals to deliver nothing short of excellence, and it has done just that' since opening in 2015.

'Made with 21, 28, or 55-day aged cuts of lamb, pork, and beef, you can expect rich and flavourful roasts that can be enjoyed individually or shared,' it adds. 'The wines, cocktails, and beers are the perfect accompaniments to Blacklock’s signature servings.'

Prices range from £17 to £25. Sharing roast at £26 per person. 

3. Ducie Street Warehouse, Manchester

Ducie Street Warehouse is the home of the UK's third best roast, according to the ranking

Taking third place on the winners' podium is Ducie Street Warehouse, described by Big 7 Travel as 'a vibrant cocktail bar and lounge meets a lively restaurant' in the heart of Manchester.

'With so many functions in one, it’s no wonder this place is constantly alive with diners, drinkers, and private parties,' it adds.

'However, we can’t mention Ducie Street without mentioning the exceptional Sunday roasts they serve up each week– dry-aged beef, leg of lamb, chicken and vegan roast are all available, adding to the inclusive atmosphere of the place.'

Prices for roasts range from £17 to £19.50.

2. The Camberwell Arms, London

The Camberwell Arms in South London serves a Sunday roast that's 'made for sharing' with a 'gourmet twist that makes them even more luxurious', says Big 7 Travel

Consistently featured on numerous Top 50 lists, The Camberwell Arms in South London 'oozes comfort, quality and inclusivity', says Big 7 Travel.

The publication praises the pub's 'warm and welcoming atmosphere', which 'attracts both native Londoners and tourists alike, all of whom are desperate for a taste of this pub’s signature roasts'.

Here, the Sunday dish is 'made for sharing', with a 'gourmet twist that makes them even more luxurious'.

Prices start from £50 for sharing and individual roasts are available for £20.

1. The Hawthorn, Haworth, West Yorkshire

The UK's best Sunday roast is served at The Hawthorn (pictured left) in Haworth, according to the ranking. It's served (right) with 'all the traditional sides that have been cooked in an extra special way to maximise flavour and quality', says Big 7 Travel

Oozing rustic Georgian charm, Haworth was the home of the famed Brontë sisters and attracts both literature fanatics and history lovers. Foodies, too, who want a taste of something truly special.

So says Big 7 Travel, which has named the West Yorkshire village as the home of the UK's best roast.

It's served at The Hawthorn pub, known locally for its 'exceptional seasonal roasts that include locally farmed and sourced lamb and beef, and a veggie option, as well as options for children', the publication says, adding: 'Roasts are served with all the traditional sides that have been cooked in an extra special way to maximise flavour and quality.'

Prices for roasts range from £16 to £19. Children's option is priced at £8.
