Met Office Saturday evening weather forecast 25/05/2024

Hello there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. We'll generally see low pressure dominating our weather as we move through the rest of the bank holiday weekend. Looking at the pressure pattern we can see areas of rain, some heavy showers across the country as well. The winds picking up a little around the coast and generally feeling on the cool side, particularly under the cloud and the rain. So back to Saturday evening, rain pushing in from the southwest affecting southern and western areas through the evening and then overnight this pushes northwards across the country. Another area of rain also affecting parts of northern England into southern Scotland. This could be heavy at times and generally for most a cloudy night, so that will help keep temperatures up generally for most. Double figures 1213 Celsius to take us into Sunday morning, which will be a grey damp start in places. Outbreaks of rain, but it will brighten up from the southwest quite quickly and this will push its way northwards. However, with low pressure in charge, we'll see shower clouds bubble up and then into the afternoon the showers could be heavy. Perhaps some hail, Thunder and lightning in there too, which could lead to some local disruptions. So a Met Office warning out for much of the afternoon into the evening time, particularly across parts of England and Wales. For Northern Ireland, southern Scotland generally cloudier here, some outbreaks of rain which could also be heavy and perhaps thundery. A little drier across central northern parts of Scotland, but the risk of a few showers too. And breezy around the coasts and for most temperatures a little lower compared to Saturday, 14 to 19 Celsius, possibly 20 or 21°. Some eastern parts of England feeling a little less chilly compared to Saturday where we had the cloud and outbreaks of rain through the day into the evening time. The showers will continue to move northwards but then will fade overnight across much of England and Wales. However, further spells of rain pushing in and moving N eastwards as we go through the night. Some of this heavy at times the driest conditions towards central and southeastern parts of England, perhaps Northern Ireland seeing some lengthy clear spells too. And under the clear spells temperatures just about dipping into single figures, but again for most starting Monday off a mild note. Temperatures 11 or 12°. A brighter start as well, particularly England and Wales, but showers quickly bubbling up and again across much of the country. Sunny spells and showers. Some of these could be heavy at times. Showers perhaps more focused across eastern parts of the UK by the afternoon, some heavy and thundery also Scotland seeing some of those thundery showers. Perhaps some longer spells of rain in the West too. And temperatures perhaps down again 17 to 18° as a top temperature. It then remains unsettled into Tuesday. We'll see further spells of rain and showers in places, and if you'd like more information on the weather for the rest of the week, you can follow us on our social media channels. See you again soon.
