Gisele Bundchen thanks her fans for donating money to the victims of catastrophic flooding in Brazil

Gisele Bundchen is feeling grateful for the outpouring of compassion and donations to the Luz Alliance.

Earlier this month southern Brazil was hit by catastrophic floods and Gisele shared footage from her native country.

As Gisele – whose mother recently died at age 75 – detailed the conditions in Brazil and thanked people who had generously donated, the video panned over destroyed houses, people standing in waist-deep, cloudy brown water.

One clip showed dogs who were displaced by the flooding and volunteers trying to comfort them.

'I want to thank every person and organization that has donated money to the Luz Alliance Fund to help the people in southern Brazil affected by the floods,' her caption began.

She continued: 'More than 17,808 people donated; today, we raised about R$6.130.000. Now, we will focus on helping rebuild so people can return to their homes.

'Nobody does anything alone, and to overcome a tragedy of these proportions, we will need everybody’s help. Please keep donating, sharing, and giving a voice to those affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. Thank you so much,' she ended the post.

She also shared a translation of her caption in Brazilian. The post reveled donations have exceeded $1 million USD.

The Luz Alliance Fund, is an initiative of Gisele created in 2020 ito provide humanitarian pandemic relief to families in Brazil.

In the clip she expressed that amid the devastation floods she's gained hope for humanity in the survivors, the volunteers and the people who donated.

On May 8, the ex-wife of Tom Brady shared another video. In it she revealed that her home state in Brazil had experienced the worst flooding it had ever seen.

The flood affected more than 350 cities in the South American country.

'There are many still to be rescued. Nobody was ready for such devastation,' she said in the video. 'Many have been separated from their loved ones. And the saddest is that many lives were lost. It’s painful. It’s devastating.

'Let’s all join together to help the thousands of people who need us. No amount is too small. Together we can make a difference,' she wrote in a call-to-action at the end of the clip.

The flooding in Brazil is one of the reasons the catwalk veteran skipped the Met Gala this year.

'She's been working tirelessly this past week to help her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which is suffering from the most devastating flood it's ever had. She has family there and she's been consumed with worry,' a source told People.

Another reason is her family. She shares 14-year-old son Benjamin and 11-year-old daughter Vivian with ex-husband Brady.

'She's busy with her family down in Miami,' the source said. 'She has a totally full life and she's very busy with her kids.'

The source added, 'Plus, she's been working more than she has in 20 years this past year. She has so many projects; she's been working all the time.'
