Five Teams That Pose The Greatest Threat To The Georgia Bulldogs In 2024
After being left out of the 2023 College Football Playoff due in part to their 27-24 SEC Championship Game loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Georgia Bulldogs are primed to reclaim their spot atop the college football world in 2024.
With quarterback Carson Beck returning to a retooled offense that added ex-Florida Gators running back Trevor Etienne to the backfield through the offseason transfer portal and a defense that has continuously been one of the strongest in the nation, the Bulldogs have the potential to be a dangerous team this fall.
According to BetMGM's online sportsbook, as of May 20, the Bulldogs have the best odds to win the 2024 College Football Playoff and National Championship at +325.

Like every season, a handful of other programs could threaten Georgia's quest for another College Football Playoff title.
Below are five teams that could potentially get in the way of UGA from reaching their national title goal:
Clemson Tigers:
Georgia opens the 2024 college football season with a noon (EST) tilt with the Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game from Atlanta's Mercedes Benz Stadium on Aug. 31.
While the Tigers have taken a bit of a step back in recent years following two College Football Playoff titles in five seasons from 2015 to 2019, the Tigers are still a formidable opponent that has the potential to give the Bulldogs a fight in the opening week of the season.
Alabama Crimson Tide:
The Crimson Tide, who defeated the Bulldogs in the 2023 SEC Championship Game, pose as a monumental early season threat to the Bulldogs given the possibility of both programs meeting in the SEC Championship Game for the second consecutive season and perhaps the College Football Playoffs.
Newly hired head coach Kalen DeBoer appears to have the Tide poised to continue its national title-contending reputation it established under previous head coach, Nick Saban.
The Crimson Tide will host the Bulldogs from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. (EST).
With the offseason additions brought to the program by DeBoer alongside the Tides' already talent-filled locker room that includes the dynamic playmaking abilities of quarterback Jalen Milroe, the primetime matchup in Tuscaloosa could be one of the tougher tests on the Bulldogs schedule.
Texas Longhorns:
The Texas Longhorns are another potential threat to the Bulldogs as the program enters its first season as an SEC member following their departure from the Big 12.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian's Longhorns, who are led by quarterback Quinn Ewers, have a high-powered offense with plenty of speed and skill that could cause some problems for the Bulldogs' secondary.
The Longhorns will host the Bulldogs on Oct. 19 from Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.
While the time for the game has yet to be announced, the potential for another primetime road matchup with a national title contender could very much be a possibility.
Ole Miss Rebels:
The Ole Miss Rebels are seemingly an annual threat to the powers of the SEC with head coach Lane Kiffin at the helm.
Offensively, the Rebels have the potential to be one of the most explosive units in the nation with Jaxson Dart under center alongside former South Carolina Gamecocks wide receiver Antwane Wells and ex-LSU Tigers running back Logan Diggs, who both joined the Rebels through the offseason transfer portal.
The Rebels will host the Bulldogs on Nov. 9 from Vaught Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. with a start time still to be determined.
While the Bulldogs' defense is a known strength, a late-season matchup with the Rebels could be dangerous if Ole Miss' offense is rolling.
Ohio State Buckeyes:
While the Buckeyes are not on the Bulldog's regular season schedule, they still rank as one of the bigger threats to Georgia's national title hopes as the two could very well meet in the College Football Playoff, which now comprises of 12 teams.
Similar to the Bulldogs, the Buckeyes are one of the top programs in the nation and possess a talent pool that is poised to bring a championship back to Columbus.
Until the Bulldogs play the Buckeyes, which would only occur in the post-season, the threat is more exterior as both programs are in different conferences
BetMGM lists the Buckeyes' odds at winning the 2024 College Football Playoff just behind the Bulldogs at +375.
Only time will tell if any of these programs will be able to hinder the Bulldogs' path to another national championship, but anything can happen, and the threat is always a possibility.
