New Cadbury Caramilk Crunchie Bites wow – but many have one problem

It's always exciting when there's a new chocolate product in the shops.

And food lovers have been getting hyped up about a new Cadbury offering available on the shelves.

The brand has introduced new Cadbury Caramilk Crunchie Bites – with the yummy treat spotted on the shelves of bargain store B&M.

However, people have spotted one 'problem' with it, as many claim the chocolates 'don't look like the packaging'.

The chocolates are described as 'Caramilk caramelised white chocolate bites, which come with honeycomb pieces'. However, after a photo of the chocolates were shared on Facebook group 'Food Finds UK', people said they didn't look the same as on the packet.

One person exclaimed: "They look completely different to the packaging." While another person echoed: "The two items don’t even look alike?? Second picture looks like truffles."

Someone else also moaned that the bites are '£3 a bag' and claimed you 'hardly get anything in them'. Meanwhile another person said they'd rather have a white chocolate Crunchie bar instead.

According to reports, you get 14 of the caramelised white chocolate honeycomb bites in the 120g bag.

Commenting on the backlash, a Mondelēz International/Cadbury spokesperson said: "Consumers may notice that our Cadbury Caramilk Crunchie Bites look a little different to the image on pack, they but can expect the same delicious taste they know and love.

"Please note Cadbury Caramilk Crunchie Bites are a product from other markets and are not sold directly by Cadbury in the UK. We are always listening to our fans to ensure our range of products reflects their changing tastebuds and we have our own product innovation pipeline in the UK, so watch this space for delicious new Cadbury treats coming soon!"

Despite the moans, many people were excited about the new chocolate offering, as someone exclaimed: "I need these ASAP." Another person asked: "Are these real? Omg I want them." A third also chimed in: "These look lovely," while a fourth wrote: "Actually sounds really nice."

The news comes after Cadbury fans were outraged over a 'last resort' change to its Wispa bars back in March.

Over the past few years, several confectionary products have become victim to "shrinkflation" - the process of chocolate bars and other items becoming smaller in size while still costing as much as they used to, or in some cases, even costing more.

And Wispa fans asks Cadbury about the issue after they noticed the bar looked smaller. One person on X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote to Cadbury and asked: "Can you explain how Wispa bars are more expensive and half the size? One or the other, surely."

Cadbury later responded to the disgruntled chocolate lover and confirmed that Wispa bars have indeed gotten smaller. They claimed that making changes to the sizes of their products is "always a last resort", but it couldn't be avoided because of the increased price of cocoa and sugar, as well as the ongoing energy crisis making the bars more expensive to make.
