London Drugs 'unwilling and unable' to pay ransom demanded by hackers
It's pharmacies and stores may be open to customers once again, but London Drugs is still dealing with the aftermath of a devastating cyber attack. A very well known ransomware operation called Lock Bit Claim have claimed responsibility for the attack and they further state they will be publishing the data that they stole on their sites on the dark web. Unless London Drugs meet their demands, London Drugs says it will not be paying any ransom. After confirming for the first time it had in fact been the victim of an attack orchestrated by what the company calls a sophisticated group of global cyber criminals, London Drugs says it cannot prevent its stolen data from making its way online. We acknowledge these criminals may leak London Drugs corporate files. This is deeply distressing. Well, London Drugs has confirmed that attackers stole files that could contain employee information. It maintains that so far they have no indication that any customer information has been compromised. That's a very optimistic guess. Right now they can't tell because it could take months to discover how much damage has been done. Somebody tried to take out $4300 out of my account. Victoria Neufeld is a frequent London drugs customer who now wonders if that's how someone was able to recently make a series of fraudulent charges to his Visa debit card. I don't believe in coincidence, like it just that's the first thing that came into my mind. Cybersecurity experts say anyone concerned about their data should change their passwords and upgrade their security settings to include multi factor authentication. Authentication.
