Australian Oscar Piastri will be driving his McLaren around the streets of Monte Carlo with a special livery, as the team pays tribute to the legendary Ayrton Senna.

McLaren will be driving this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix in a car with a Senna-inspired livery, with the Brazilian green, yellow and blue covering the usual papaya orange challenger.

The team has been buoyed by recent success on track.

Brit Lando Norris was victorious in Miami and came within one second of beating Max Verstappen last weekend at Imola.

Piastri, sixth in the drivers' championship, was fourth last Sunday and consistently just as quick as his teammate across the weekend.

Now McLaren pays tribute to one of its greatest drivers with an eye-catching livery, hoping can propel them to a special win 30 years after Senna's death.

Senna remains revered and respected as Formula 1's greatest icon, and McLaren's most decorated driver," McLaren CEO Zak Brown said.

"His impact on McLaren is enormous, not only through his racing record but also presence within the team, and now his legacy, so it's an honour to race for him at his most successful circuit in his green, yellow and blue colours."

Bianca Senna, niece of Ayrton and CEO of Senna Brand, said the special tribute this weekend combines two of the legend's greatest loves — McLaren and Monaco.

"McLaren meant a lot to him, and together they achieved a lot of success, much of which he is still remembered for today by so many," she said.

"It will be special to see it race the streets of Monaco, a circuit which gave him so much joy and many triumphs."

Senna was a master around Monaco, winning there six times during his F1 career.

After claiming his first Monaco Grand Prix in 1987, Senna would then win five in a row from 1989-1993.

Senna was killed in a fatal accident at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.

McLaren has not won at Monaco since Lewis Hamilton guided them to victory in 2008.

Red Bull have won four of the past five grands prix at Monaco, including the previous three.
