Jamie Carragher has named two ‘difficult’ tasks Arsenal face next term after they missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City again.

The Gunners have come agonisingly close to landing the top-flight trophy two seasons in a row, with Pep Guardiola’s side coming out on top on both occasions.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is worried that his former side may suffer from a drop-off in the upcoming 2024-25 campaign but captain Martin Odegaard has vowed that the north Londoners will ‘push to win everything’.

Manager Mikel Arteta has also been bullish – insisting that Premier League glory is eventually coming to the Emirates – as their painful 20-year wait goes on.

Football pundit Carragher has now shared his thoughts on The Overlap and has named two ‘difficult’ tasks for Arsenal – maintaining their head-to-head record against other top teams in the league and keeping the majority of their squad fit.

‘There are things Arsenal have done this season that I think will be difficult to replicate next season,’ Carragher said.

‘There are two things that stand out for me. They’re by far the best team in the head-to-heads with other top teams.

‘They beat Man United twice. Four points from Man City. Four points from Liverpool.

‘Four points from Chelsea. I think they got four points from Spurs. So they’ve beaten everyone.

‘It’s difficult to do that again. It’s a fine margin when you play the top teams. That will be difficult to do next season.

‘The other thing is the injury record… the injury record they’ve had this season… okay maybe it’s not just luck, it could be sports science and the way they train.

‘But basically, whenever you put an Arsenal game on, there’s nine or 10 of the first-choice XI playing. It will be difficult to have that again next season.’

Arsenal finished the season with only the Community Shield to add to their trophy cabinet, which they clinched back in August.
