The Queensland-based NRL star accused of raping a woman will not be charged by police, according to a report.

Police will reportedly not issue charges against the footy star after a woman withdrew a complaint against him, the Courier Mail reports.

The star, who has played State of Origin, was the subject of a Queensland Police investigation last week, in a development that rocked the NRL's Magic Round. He denies the allegation.

The player is currently contracted to one of the four NRL clubs based in Queensland.

Officers attended the star's residence last week to quiz him on an alleged rape.

The same outlet claims that the NRL player and the woman had been drinking heavily on the night of the alleged incident.

The woman made a formal complaint later to police and claimed she had been digitally raped.

The player's club were made aware of the alleged incident and reported it to the NRL integrity unit, a standard measure when off-field matters involving a player contracted to their club occurs.

It has been reported that the Queensland club is satisfied with the player's version of events, insisting no sexual assault occurred. The club has also been in dialogue with the police.

No charges have been laid against the player, who denies the allegation.
