Prior to the start of practice, Bills’ coach Sean McDermott revealed that Brown indeed had shoulder surgery earlier this year. He listed the 6-8, 311-pound lineman as one of the players who will not be participating fully due to injury. He also confirmed Brown would be participating in “some capacity.”
Brown was drafted by the Bills with the No. 93 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. In early October of his rookie season, Brown was promoted in the lineup to right tackle for his first career start. Throughout his Bills’ tenure, he has appeared in 44 games, starting 41.
He has not played more than 14 games in the last two seasons, and suffered a back injury in 2021, which continued to bother him into the subsequent season. Brown also dealt with an ankle injury in 2022.
Following two injury-riddled seasons, in which he never started more than 14 games, Brown started in all 17 games in the 2023 season. For his efforts, he earned the third-highest play-based pay incentive in the NFL for his improved play. While his recovery remains an on-going process, Brown’s attendance at OTAs is an encouraging sign for both the Bills and Brown, himself.
