The Linc - NFL QB rankings from PFF place Jalen Hurts inside top 10
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...
PFF Quarterback Rankings: All 32 starters ahead of the 2024 NFL season - PFF
9. Jalen Hurts, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. It was a roller coaster of a year for Hurts, who set career highs in passing yards, touchdowns and big-time throws, but also career highs in interceptions and lost fumbles. It was his third consecutive season of at least 10 rushing touchdowns, while he also led the position in rushing first downs. It also just didn’t look like Hurts was fully healthy for a lot of the 2023 campaign. He wasn’t the same rushing threat overall, with lower missed tackles forced, yards per attempt and explosive run (20 yards or more) figures. It wasn’t as efficient or explosive a season as his 2022, but Hurts remains a constant threat from the position.
Ex-Eagles linebacker: Jalen Hurts isn’t good enough to win a Super Bowl - NJ.com
“Jalen Hurts is a good quarterback. He is not an elite quarterback,” Acho said Tuesday. “That’s why he didn’t get drafted at an elite level. Jalen Hurts was good enough to get you there. He’s not good enough to win it — both in college and in the NFL. It’s not an indictment. How many guys are good enough to win it?”
DeVante Parker announces retirement on the first day of Eagles’ OTAs - BGN
The Eagles added another big wide receiver this offseason, signing veteran DeVante Parker, but unfortunately, all it took was one day of OTAs for the WR to decide to retire from the NFL. Parker gave the news to Adam Schefter who made the announcement, citing Parker’s desire to spend more time with his family and kids.
NFC East projected starters for 2024 NFL season: Did Cowboys improve? Eagles to contend again? - NFL.com
Linebacker remains a huge concern. Nakobe Dean has struggled to stay on the field and make a difference. Devin White made some big plays during his five seasons in Tampa, but he also established a reputation for blowing assignments and was denying that he quit on the team by the end of his time with the Buccaneers. I’m not convinced this group is any better than last season’s.
Jason Kelce explains why he’s still hanging around Eagles’ facility so much - NBCSP
Back in March, Jason Kelce announced his retirement after a Hall of Fame career ... but he’s still been at the NovaCare Complex quite a bit this spring. And, no, it’s not because he’s thinking about a comeback. Part of the reason is that he still enjoys being around his former Eagles teammates. “Part of it is that,” Kelce said to John Clark at the Mike Quick Celebrity Invitational on Monday afternoon. “Part of it is just getting a free lift down in the NovaCare. I’ve gotten accustomed to going down there. I love going down there. It keeps me involved with it. Whether it’s being around the guys, being around the coaches, my mind in the game from what teams are doing to try and prepare for this coming season. And things the defense is getting ready to do.
Former New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas named as logical fit for Dallas Cowboys - Blogging The Boys
We are past the point where any veteran addition could be seen as an impediment to CeeDee Lamb’s ascension as the alpha of the group, the fact that Dallas traded for Brandin Cooks last season (a former Saints wide receiver himself) is enough proof of that so it does not seem like Thomas could be a threat there in any capacity. But Thomas has seen a lot in the NFL and could help provide even more for young players like Tolbert and the rest to learn from. More importantly he could provide a higher floor at the WR3 position which is what should be the primary focus given the unknown there.
Did the Giants close the talent gap? Ranking NFC East offenses position-by-position - Big Blue View
The Eagles swept the offensive side of the football. If I did break down the offensive line by specific positions, Philadelphia wouldn’t have secured center with Jason Kelce no longer in the building. Lets’ do some math: Eagles: 20 points, Cowboys: 12 points, Giants: 10 points, Commanders: 8 points. Philadelphia is eight points ahead of Dallas, who is two points ahead of the Giants, who are two points ahead of the Commanders. Please let us know your thoughts below. The defensive side of the football will be released shortly.
UPDATED: Washington hires new senior vice president of football operations - Hogs Haven
Earlier this afternoon, Mike Garafolo reported that Washington was taking steps to hire its new cap expert, Brandon Sosna, on the heels of Rob Rogers leaving earlier this spring. Sosna has been with the Lions since 2022, overlapping with Washington’s Assistant GM, Lance Newmark, for a couple of years in Detroit. Even in his short time there, he made a great impression on the Lions’ GM Brad Holmes.
QB Market Growth - Over The Cap
With the Jared Goff extension in the books attention has turned to the salary expectations for a number of quarterbacks including Trevor Lawrence, Dak Prescott, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jordan Love. I wanted to dive a little bit into historical contract trends at the position to see if there was anything that we could learn from jumps in contract value. The first thing I wanted to do was to look at quarterbacks signed since 2013 who reset the market. The one complication in this was the out of the box contract that was signed by Patrick Mahomes in 2020 which ran for 10 years at $45 million per season. This contract really seemed to be designed as two five year contracts. The first half of which would be worth $39.55 million per year so that is what I used for him. Here is how this looks.
The first thing we all plan to do in EA Sports College Football 25 - SB Nation
The return of College Football video games is so close we can almost taste it. Last week EA Sports unveiled their official trailer for EA Sports College Football 25 with a release date of July 19 — and it sparked our imaginations wondering how deep we’ll be able to go. Naturally we’ll all jump into quick game first, just to get a feeling for things — but from there we have some wild plans for our first true mission inside the game. Here’s what we can’t wait to do.
