Watch: Actor Vidya Malavade, singer Amit Trivedi unable to cast vote

'Chak De India' actor Vidya Malavade, and singer-music composer Amit Trivedi were unable to cast their votes at the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections in Mumbai. The artists, in their respective Instagram posts, expressed their disappointment at not being able to cast their votes despite reaching their polling booths.

A visibly upset Vidya Malavade posted a video message on Instagram seeking help after she was not allowed to vote in the Lok Sabha elections. The actor mentioned that though she hadn't received her voter ID card, she went to cast her vote carrying her Aadhar card. She was accompanied by her aged parents. Vidya was on the verge of breaking down as she captured her thoughts in the video.

Singer-music composer Amit Trivedi too, was 'denied' the right to vote. In a video on X, he mentioned that he felt 'helpless' after authorities at his voting booth claimed that his voting serial number didn't exist. Despite multiple checks, he still couldn't vote.

"Voting is our constitutional right. Today I was denied that right and I feel helpless Did this happen to anyone else? How.. and why?? #elections (sic)", Amit wrote on X.

Last month, South actor Soori faced a similar situation when he failed to cast his vote after he found his name missing from voters' list. He said in a video, "I don't know who to blame, it's disheartening that I couldn't vote." Besides Soori, many citizens have complained that their names were missing from the voters' list.

Lok Sabha 2024 election results will be out on June 4.
