Mets activate Megill, option Hartwig, release Wendle, trade Ramírez
The Mets made a few roster moves today ahead of their series opener in Cleveland this evening, as the team has activated Tylor Megill from the injured list, optioned reliever Grant Hartwig to Triple-A Syracuse, released infielder Joey Wendle, and traded reliever Yohan Ramírez to the Dodgers for cash.
Megill made just one start for the Mets early in the season before hitting the injured list with a shoulder issue. Over the course of four rehab outings, he threw 14.0 innings in the minors with a 0.64 ERA as he worked his way back to the Mets’ major league roster.
Hartwig has split his time between Syracuse and Queens this year, and on the major league side, he’s thrown 6.2 innings and has a 6.75 ERA.
Wendle signed with the Mets early in the offseason but struggled at the plate and in the field before the team designated him for assignment.
And last but not least, Ramírez is now the second relief pitcher to have had two stints with the Mets that ended in being designated for assignment and joining another team. He has a 6.91 ERA and a 3.57 FIP in 14.1 innings at the major league level this year.
