Things are changing for WWE later this year and in early 2025 as it moves its television programs to different networks.
WWE made a deal with Netflix that will see Monday Night Raw move from the USA Network to the streaming service beginning in January 2025, while WWE got a raise for SmackDown’s rights to $205 million on average per year currently from FOX, as they will get $287 million per year in its next deal from NBCU when the show moves to the USA Network.
NXT is slated to move from the USA Network to the CW network. The Raw deal is for ten years and more than $5 billion, valued at least at $500 million per year.
F4Wonline’s Josh Nason had notes from the JPMorgan Global Technology, Media, and Communications Conference Monday, where TKO head Mark Shapiro talked about WWE and UFC. This is where he noted that, as part of the deal with Netflix, they will also do “a lot of ancillary shoulder programming” next year, including a reality series that is like the popular F1-focused series, “Drive to Survive.
There are also documentaries planned about the careers of its stars. Earlier this year, NASCAR also got a similar show. The series has been credited for the massive increase in F1’s popularity in the US, helping them secure a new big-money deal with ESPN.
Shapiro also noted that WWE will expand its deal with Saudi Arabia over the next 6–12 months, and an “enhancement” will be announced this month. This could give a better look at the company potentially holding WrestleMania or the Royal Rumble in the country.
