ai claims us civil war in today's climate would 'tear apart country'

An artificial intelligence bot has claimed that a Civil War in today's climate would 'tear the United States apart'

In light of last month's dystopian thriller Civil War by A24, which saw a modern American civil war with Texas and California pitted against the US military and various regional factions, an interesting question surfaced. An artificial intelligence bot was quizzed about how actual internal military conflict in America today might look and whether Texas and California could form an unforeseen alliance.

Google's Gemini AI had some ideas on the matter: "If we saw a civil war today, states that seceded during the first civil war (Confederate states), might again be more likely involved on one side," it mused. "These include Southern states like Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri."

According to the AI, there would probably be a "rural/urban divide..., with some analysts suggesting rural areas might be more likely to secede."

Taking cues from the dynamics observed in the US election, the AI suggested that certain "key battleground" states could play a crucial role in any potential widespread internal conflict. The AI noted: "States with a history of swinging between Republican and Democratic control might be more susceptible to internal division in a civil war." They highlighted states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, and North Carolina.

The AI also pointed out the importance of military firepower in any conflict, with states like California and Texas leading in terms of raw numbers due to their extensive military bases. It said: "Looking at raw numbers, these states tend to have the most military bases: California, Texas and Florida," reports the Daily Star.

Further noting other potentially significant players, the AI mentioned: "Virginia and North Carolina, with high concentrations of military personnel, could also be significant players, whereas geographically speaking Alaska's difficult terrain could pose an advantage."

Contrary to what was depicted in the film Civil War, where Texas and California ended up on the same team, the AI forecasted a completely different reality: "The current political climate in the US is highly polarised, and Texas and California represent opposite ends of the spectrum," the AI pointed out. "Bridging this divide in the face of a national crisis would be a significant challenge."

The AI wrapped up by highlighting cultural and societal contrasts between the states, stating "these states have distinct cultural identities and social values. Finding common ground on social issues or national identity could be difficult.

"Even if they were initially allied, competition for resources like water or energy could eventually lead to conflict between Texas and California. An alliance between Texas and California in a civil war would likely depend on the specific circumstances of the conflict."
