Julianne Moore looked the epitome of chic as she stepped out to the premiere of Horizon: An American Saga at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival on Sunday.

The actress, 63, was effortlessly elegant in a fitted green dress which featured an alluring ruffled neck detail.

A chunky gold necklace and some pointed gold heels offered the perfect finishing touches to the star studded annual event.

Showcasing her age-defying looks, Julianne emphasised her beautiful green eyes with a touch of dark eye shadow and some rose blusher.

Her signature auburn locks were pulled back from a centre parting, which showed off her shoulders and décolletage.

The film which stars Kevin Costner and Sienna Miller, chronicles a multi-faceted, 15-year span of pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American west.

The movie series is set to be released in two chapters on June 28 and August 16.

Earlier in the day Julianne attended the Women In Motion photocall at the at Majestic Hotel.

The award winning actress, continued to show off her impeccable sense of style in her daytime look which consisted of an oversized grey double breasted blazer which she donned over a matching waistcoat.

Cannes is the world's biggest film festival, first conceived in 1939 as an alternative to the then-fascist-influenced Venice Film Festival.

It has been held annually since 1946 except in 1948 and 1950, when it was cancelled due to lack of funds.

The festival is known for its carefully selected programme of films that have gone on to Oscar glory or launched the careers of directors like Quentin Tarantino.

Cannes' top prize is the Palme d'Or, or Golden Palm, whose past winners include Taxi Driver, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, The Pianist and Parasite.
