Maple Leafs hire Berube as new head coach
The Maple Leaf search for a new head coach is over, and the hiring marks a homecoming of sorts. Craig Barube has been hired as the team's 32nd bench boss, taking the spot of Sheldon Keefe, who was fired after the team got bumped out of the playoffs. Ruby was most recently the head coach of the Saint Louis Blues, winning the Stanley Cup with that franchise back in 2019. Prior to joining the coaching Rags, Barube played seventeen seasons in the NHL, including forty games for the Leafs in the early 90s. He'll be officially introduced as the team's head coach on Tuesday.
