Fans Furious With CBS Broadcast Of PGA Championship
CBS.
For the first two days of the PGA Championship, ESPN had nearly flawless coverage with very few commercials.
Fast forward to Saturday afternoon, though and CBS is ruining that trend. Fans noticed early on during CBS' broadcast coverage that the network couldn't help but take a ridiculous amount of commercial breaks.
"Just got home and turned on the tournament. Second round of commercials already," one fan said.
"And the @CBS @CBSSports horrible coverage of the PGA Championship continues. Endless commercials, showing us again what we’ve already seen and special segments with bits of actual golf coverage," offered another.
"Did CBS take over the @PGAChampionship coverage to play commercials? You realize there are golfers on the course playing golf or nah? This is awful," shared a third.
Fans noticed the stark contract between ESPN's coverage of the tournament and that from CBS.
"Pretty sure CBS has aired more commercials in 25 minutes than ESPN did in two days," added another.
Perhaps if ESPN did the same thing for two days fans wouldn't have noticed. However, it's very clear CBS is using significantly more commercials during its broadcast and fans are not pleased.
While the amount of commercials is a problem, the leaderboard is not. It's stacked with names like Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Shane Lowry - among others.
We should be in for a great finish - if CBS doesn't mess it up.
