THE British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (BCCP) remains optimistic toward further increasing the United Kingdom (UK)-Philippine bilateral trade through exploring the country's multiple economic zones.
In an interview, BCCP Executive Director/Trustee Chris Nelson discusses the projects being implemented by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), saying: "The BCDA event highlighted three of the key projects. The first is affordable housing in New Clark City. I would just like to emphasize that the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the British Embassy and the UK government has been supporting that. The second is to build a food hub in Clark. And the third is the second runway for the Clark International Airport."
Nelson adds: "All of these projects in particular, infrastructure is obviously attractive to companies. Planning on infrastructure is important because that is the key to driving the GDP (gross domestic product) growth rate, which we know fell back slightly to 5.7 percent. We are optimistic, and I think that the projects are aligned very well. And we look forward to working with BCDA, and to continue to highlight the UK companies and investors the opportunities in Clark and other BCDA areas."
The British Chamber actively supports the infrastructure industry by collaborating with multiple stakeholders, allowing the expansion and development of infrastructure projects in the country. This is aligned with its advocacy on the ease of doing business and promoting the Philippines as a significant investment destination in the Southeast Asian region.
