Robbie Keane guides Maccabi Tel-Aviv to Israeli league title after first season in charge
Robbie Keane has enjoyed league title success in his first season as a manager after Maccabi Tel-Aviv were crowned champions of Israel.
Keane's side secured a 3-0 victory over Hapoel Beer Sheva on Saturday evening to open up an unassailable eight point lead with two games remaining.
The Dubliner was appointed last summer after Maccabi finished third in the 2022/23 campaign, a finish that fell below expectations.
His team have won 24, drawn 7 and lost just 3 of their 34 outings and will now enter the Champions League qualifiers in the summer.
Keane said he didn't want to talk about politics when he was appointed Maccabi boss last June, with his decision to go there becoming even more controversial on account of Israel's actions in Gaza in response to the October 7 attacks.
