Your body’s detoxification and cleansing process greatly depends on your liver function. Consuming high-sugar and high-salt processed foods like sausages, drinking alcohol and caffeinated beverages, and eating fried meals can all negatively impact your liver’s function and put you at risk for life-threatening illnesses. When the liver becomes larger and more prone to accumulating fat it leads to fatty liver disease. Individuals who either abstain from alcohol entirely or merely infrequently may develop alcoholic fatty liver. People with diabetes, obesity, or those on specific drugs are more likely to experience this.

A patient with fatty liver disease may initially feel drained, uneasy, or have upper abdominal pain on the right side. Usually, it happens after consuming meals. Severe upper abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, weakness, pale stools, and leg oedema are some of the symptoms that a person may suffer in severe cases.

It can happen due to a lot of reasons including obesity, excessive alcohol consumption, genetic disorders, pregnancy, Hepatitis C, high cholesterol levels, type 2 diabetes and many more. Green Leafy Vegetables-

The high vitamin and antioxidant content of green leafy vegetables, helps prevent fatty liver ailments. Abundant in chlorophyll and vital antioxidants, green veggies help maintain the function of our livers and remove pollutants from our blood. You can add kale, spinach, green peas, broccoli, mung beans, cauliflower, and lettuce, into your diet to help with this. You can steam 100–150 grammes of one of these veggies and consume it before meals.

Beetroots and carrots-

Beetroot’s betalains, betacyanin, and betanin components guard the liver against damage caused by carcinogens, whereas carrots’ antioxidants lessen the toxicity to the liver. Therefore, you should try to eat one cup of carrots or beetroots three times a week or drink one glass of juice per day. Beetroot contains vitamin C, which enhances enzyme activity and stimulates bile output. Additionally, it is high in vitamin A, which protects against liver disease and enhances liver function.

Apples-

Apple’s polyphenols regulate the lipid and serum levels of the liver. It can help prevent fatty liver because of its anti-inflammatory qualities. Pectin, abundant in apples, purifies the body by clearing toxins out of the digestive tract. Fatty liver disease can be avoided by eating an apple every day. You can consume up to three apples each day if you suffer from Grade 2 or Grade 3 fatty liver disease. It is good to eat an apple three times before meals or you can drink 20 to 40 ml of apple cider vinegar on an empty stomach.

Lemon-

Known as one of the good food items to help in antioxidants, it also keeps your liver healthy and eliminates all toxins from the body. You can squeeze the juice of half a lemon into a glass of warm water and drink it every day on an empty stomach. It will not only make your liver healthy but will improve the digestion process.

Papaya-

Papaya is also a good source of antioxidants, fibre, minerals, and vitamins A, C, and E. Papaya enzymes help to lessen hepatic inflammation. On an empty stomach, consume a dish of papaya slices every morning. It will help your tummy get full and will enhance your enzyme activity and digestive tract.
