Five Dublin cafés where you can get your daily coffee hit for less than €3

While people often use the price of a pint to measure inflation, these days the process could equally apply to your morning coffee.

The cost of buying a coffee every day can certainly add up. While an americano is usually the cheapest brew, we’ve rounded up five coffee shops in Dublin where you can still get a standard cappuccino or latte for €3 or less.

Heartbreak Social, Drury Street

This tattoo shop is still serving coffee for just €2 after the high demand for a promotional offer they rolled out last December.

The owners of Heartbreak Social Club decided to put the price of their coffee, brewed by Pine Cone Coffee, down to give something back to customers.

“Tattoos, piercing and jewellery is our main business trade, coffee is just an offering for customers,” owner Ryan Kelly previously told the Irish Independent.

“It’s good coffee, people are shocked when they get it for just €2. We thought about how a lot of places are overpriced. We decided to do it a bit cheaper than everywhere else.

“We have the freedom to drop the price a little bit because our other services cover us. Not everyone wants tattoos, so we thought of jewellery and coffee.”

Hard Ground Café, Usher’s Island

Located at 9 Island Street, it serves locally sourced coffee by JJ Darboven in Dún Laoghaire, and all hot drinks are priced at an extremely reasonable €2.75.

The coffee truck provides work and training opportunities for people experiencing homelessness with all the proceeds going towards the Mendicity Institution’s healthcare, food, advocacy, and shelter services.

Mimi’s, Westmoreland Street

This city centre café is selling coffee for just €3, with a small additional charge if you want an alternative milk or an extra shot.

Owner Nate Seligman previously told the Irish Independent: “All coffees are €3. We’re looking at getting prices down as cheap as possible.

“That’s one of the reasons why we’re doing signature hot chocolate, like Kinder Bueno hot chocolate, Oreo hot chocolate.

“If you bring us any type of chocolate, we can make it into hot chocolate. The café is through the front entrance of the Pillar Bar, facing the Westmoreland Street Luas stop,” he added.

Flower & Bean, Dublin 8

This café sells coffee from as cheap as €2.50. The Cork Street speciality café and artisan bakery serves “very affordable batch brew filter coffee which we make every morning with our house blend”. It’s €3, but you can save 50 cents as they do discounts for bringing your own cup.

Mamma Mia’s, Grattan Street

Clint and Ruth Hamilton have a love and passion for both Italian food and the Italian way of life. They’ve red and white chequered tablecloths and a European outdoor dining setting, it’s the perfect spot to have any coffee you want for just €2.
