Aussie visits famous 'Outback Steakhouse' in America and is left shocked with a very surprising find

It's the American restaurant franchise with a very Aussie name.

And now a TikTok star from Down Under has taken to social media with a surprisingly positive review of the world famous Outback Steakhouse chain.

Jesse Willesee, the son of respected TV journalist Terry Willesee, said he had first set out to make a video about how the eatery was not at all Australian - but he came away impressed instead.

The restaurant chain, first established in the US in 1988, boasts 'Australian' fare on its menu including 'Kookaburra Wings' (chicken wings in bleu cheese dressing) 'Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp' (deep fried prawns in beer batter) and the infamous 'Bloomin' Onion'.

Posting his review in a video to his Instagram page, Jesse explained he visited an Outback Australia franchise in Laughlin, Nevada.

'I went there to make a video abut how [the Outback Steakhouse] it is not Australian,' he said.

'What I did not anticipate was that it [would be] absolutely delicious.'

Jesse said he dined on a rib eye steak, but added he was really impressed with the 'Bloomin' Onion', a signature dish of the eatery.

Described in the menu as a 'True Outback original', the appetiser consists of 'hand-carved' deep fried onions paired with a spicy sauce created especially by the restaurant.

'The Bloomin' Onion was one of the best things I ever tasted,' the social media star gushed in his review.

He also raved about the staff and gave the Nevada restaurant a rating of '8 out of 10'.

Jesse also showed off a Koala and Kangaroo Outback Steakhouse pin he was gifted by the staff.

According to data company ScrapeHero, the franchise has 694 restaurants in the US across 46 states and territories in 580 cities.

Jesse is known to post content comparing life in the US and Australia.

Last year, he discussed how the two countries have vastly different tastes and dating cultures.

Jesse revealed he's spent half of his life in each country as his father Terry is Australian while his mother Melissa is American.

'On the topic of dating, I feel like in America the guys really have to win the girls,' he said.

'They're really out there trying to get these girls, they really are competing. They want to snatch one up.

Jesse, who uses the stage name Jesse Sunset, also revealed going the beach is very different in both countries.

'In Australia, you take a towel, maybe. And that's it' he said.

'In America, you've got towels, umbrellas, you've got a cooler full of drinks. You might have some food. You might have a tent that you put up.'
