French candidates drop out of election in an attempt to block the National Rally Party
Political opponents to France’s National Rally Party are stepping aside in an attempt to block the party from power.
The far-right group has won the first round after current President Emmanuel Macron called a snap election.
The party, which gained third place in the first voting round, has dropped out to try to hinder Marine Le Pen’s chances.
