Kaizer Chiefs to now pounce on ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star?

The Mamelodi Sundowns exodus has officially gotten underway as the club has announced four players’ departures ahead of next season.

Plenty of changes are expected at Sundowns ahead of next season, including a large turnover of playing staff.

Sundowns release four

Four players seem to have been the start of those changes. Bongani Zungu, Brian Onyango, Gaston Sirino and Thabiso Kutumela. Of the four players, only Onyango saw his contract coming to an end. While the other players were still contracted to Sundowns. That effectively means either the club or the players had requested to part ways.

Sirino has been trying to leave the club for quite sometime now, and has a had a few run ins with management. Three-years ago, he was the subject of intense interest from Al Ahly under his former coach at Masandawana coach Pitso Mosimane. He now departs Chloorkop after seven years.

Last month, Sirino was linked to a move to Kaizer Chiefs. It’s believed the club was weighing up making an offer to the player with the stumbling block his Sundowns situation. It was thought that the Uruguayan still having a contract with the club would’ve made it tough for him to switch to Naturena.

Will Chiefs pounce on Sirino?

Now that Sirino is a free agent, after being released by Sundowns, it is possible that Chiefs get encouraged. The timing could be perfect as it could also coincide with the arrival incoming coach Nasreddine Nabi. He is then, expected to handle some player movements including those are brought to the club.

On Monday, this publication reported Chiefs were willing to take allow Nabi to recommend players of his choice. The club are believed to be ready to go all out to get the players the Tunisian it remains to be seen if Sirino could end up being one of those players he is targeting.
