Panthers quarterback Bryce Young endured a tough two-win season, a stark contrast to his time leading Alabama. Despite the challenges, new Carolina coach Dave Canales, known for his expertise with quarterbacks, sees the same qualities in Young that he displayed at Alabama.
“When I watched him at Alabama for all those years, whether it was one of their early games where they’re running somebody out of a stadium or whether it was a game late in the year, he’s got the same effect in those moments,” Canales told CBS Sports. “He’s the same way when it comes about his work. So I know that there’s going to be a measure of him just feeling certain games out.”
Canales emphasized Young's consistent excellence throughout his career. ““He’s a guy that has been the best player in high school. The best player in college. So he expects to be the best player again.”
For Young to reclaim his top form, the Panthers need significant improvements around him. Last season, Young faced relentless pressure, being sacked 62 times—the highest in the league and a record over the past decade. Addressing these issues will be crucial for Young's success in the NFL.
