King Charles and Queen Camilla host garden party at Holyroodhouse as Scotland's royal week kicks off
King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived in Scotland for Royal Week - the annual celebration attended by members of the British royal family.
The monarch took part in the traditional ceremony of the keys in the gardens of The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on Tuesday morning to kick off proceedings.
His Majesty was presented with the keys to the City of Edinburgh from Lord Provost Councillor Robert Aldridge on the forecourt of the palace grounds.

King Charles was also seen inspecting the troops, who were part of Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (5SCOTS).
Members of The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and Pipes and Drums of 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland were also on hand to provide the music.
While the Palace Guard was on parade, comprising of members from Balaklava Company, 5 SCOTS, The King's Bodyguard Scotland (Royal Company of Archers) and the High Constables of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Following official duties outdoors, the King changed out of his blue suit and into his uniform to hold a rare investiture.
Members of The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and Pipes and Drums of 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland were also on hand to provide the music.

More recently Prince William and Princess Anne have been taking on the bulk of investitures at Windsor Castle on behalf of the monarch but while in town, His Majesty did the honours.
Scottish Professor and author, Alexander McCall Smith, was among those given awards and was made a Knight Bachelor during the ceremony.
