5 Filipina Athletes To Watch Out For In 2024
Numerous remarkable victories in the field of Philippine sports have been achieved by women. In the 2018 Asian Games, 70% of the medals the Philippines claimed were won by Filipina athletes. In fact, the country's first Olympic gold medal was bagged by the renowned weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz. During the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Filipina athletes outnumbered men in the Philippine delegation.
There is no question that women in sports have brought success and #PinoyPride to the country. This goes to show the importance of providing adequate policies and programs that guarantee equal access and equal funding for them.
According to the World Economic Forum, investing in women in sports recognizes their rights to participation and economic resources, which in turn paves the way for the promotion of gender equality.
Let’s now delve into the stories of exceptional female athletes who have not only excelled in sports but also made significant accomplishments in their respective careers, showcasing the multifaceted impact of their accomplishments. These women embody the essence of perseverance, determination, and excellence, leaving an indelible mark both on and off the field.
