Amazon will give you a huge Prime discount if you're a certain age

amazon, amazon will give you a huge prime discount if you're a certain age

Younger shoppers will pay a fraction of the usual price

Amazon's mega Prime Day sale is quickly approaching, as thousands of products are set to be discounted across July 16 and 17 this year. It's a chance to bag items for a fraction of the price but a new move from the retailer could see shoppers get a 50% discount all year round.

If you're aged between 18 and 22 years old Amazon is offering a massive discount on its monthly Prime subscription, cutting the usual £8.99 monthly price down to £4.49 - that's a saving of £47.49 a year. Some eager shoppers may be aware that the retailer is offering a 30-day free trial of Prime ahead of its sale, but this rival offer will give younger spenders a much better offer.

Instead of bagging 30-days for free, shoppers within the age bracket can tap into its eye-catching six month free trial and once the £0 period comes to an end, can lock into the much cheaper £4.49 price. This means you'll get a full 12 months while paying for three (six months half price).

Of course with its Prime Day sale coming up, Prime offers shoppers the chance to take part in the price drops with discounts on huge brands like Dyson, Shark, Ninja, Apple, and Samsung. The sale isn't the only perk.

Prime gives shoppers to the biggest discounts, first, while also making it easier to filter deals on your favourite brands but it also offers its nortorious free delivery, and entertainment with Prime Video and Amazon music. It also means you can tap into a host of lesser-known perks, like downloading films to watch offline, free Amazon Fresh food delivery, and get unlimited storage for your mobile with its photo storage - may be a go-to for tech fans.

18-22-year-olds will also have access to exclusive perks for students and young adults including 10% off selected fashion products from brands such as Champion, Puma, Vans, and Levi’s, 10% off shopping with Amazon Fresh and 5% off travel with National Express.

As John Boumphrey, UK country manager at Amazon, explained: "We’re always looking for ways to provide more value to our customers and offering 18-22-year-olds 50% off Prime membership helps to make the wide range of Prime benefits even more accessible to young people.

“This is a really important time in their lives, so helping them save while enjoying great shopping and entertainment benefits will make a big difference, whether they’re going to university, starting work, or moving out of home for the first time.” You can sign up for Amazon Prime, here.

The upcoming Amazon Prime Day may just sway rival online retailers to launch competitive discounts. As we speak tech fans can also find price drops over at John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse, or the Bose Summer Sale.
