ALBAWABA- At least 120 people were killed in a stampede at a religious gathering in a village in the Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state.
The tragedy occurred during a religious festival when an unusually large crowd gathered upon hearing that a high-ranking Hindu monk would be attending.
As the religious ceremony concluded, a massive stampede ensued, resulting in 122 fatalities so far.
Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar stated, "122 people have died in the incident. All things are under investigation, and we do not want to affect the process by jumping to conclusions. The matter will proceed based on the findings of the investigation."
