Aluminium foil: The unexpected burglar deterrent every home needs

aluminium foil: the unexpected burglar deterrent every home needs

Wrap the handle. You will protect yourself from theft.

In the summer, the most significant number of burglaries and thefts occur. How can you protect yourself from them? You don’t need expensive alarms for this. Reach for a product you already have in your kitchen cupboard.

According to data from the Chief Police Headquarters, burglaries and thefts increase yearly. Last year, as many as 40 thousand of these types of crimes were recorded. Most of them happen in the summer when we go on holiday. Just a moment of inattention can lead to a burglary.

How can you protect yourself from theft? There are several ways, but it’s worth starting with the cheapest. The necessary item is most likely already in your home.

Wrap the door handle with foil. You’ll sleep peacefully

Aluminium foil is a product that everyone has at home. We usually use it for baking, but the material has many more uses than it might seem. A piece of foil can replace sandwich paper, and if crumpled into a ball and thrown into the washing machine drum, it can replace fabric softener.

It turns out that aluminium foil has another unusual use: it can protect against theft. Wrap the handle on the outside of the door with it and attach it with adhesive tape. If a thief tries to enter, a handprint will be left on the foil. In case of a burglary attempt, it is worth implementing special security measures such as an alarm or a camera.

Don’t forget to inform your neighbours about this so they can be on their guard. If another burglary attempt occurs in the block, don’t hesitate to report it to the police. This trick will also be helpful during holidays, for example, when staying in a hotel or guesthouse.

Spread on the board. Speed up ironing

Aluminium foil is a versatile product for the home and kitchen. It can soften water in the washing machine or dishwasher. Just place it inside the appliance and set the programme of your choice. The foil will prevent streaks on dishes and limescale build-up.

These are just a few practical uses for foil worth implementing in your home. It can also be successfully used for ironing. Lay it on the ironing board with the shiny side up, then pull the cover over it. The foil will reflect heat, making ironing much faster and easier.
