Oklahoma keeps winning with another 2025 4-star commitment
The Oklahoma Sooners can't stop winning right now.
On the same day that head coach Brent Venables joined The Paul Finebaum Show to talk about his program, the Sooners landed another top recruit in the 2025 class.
On3's Hayes Fawcett posted to X to announce that wide receiver Cortez Mills had chosen Oklahoma for his official commitment.
Mills was a 4-star receiver and just outside of On3's top-100 recruits for the 2025 class. Coming out of Homestead, Florida, he chose the Sooners over top programs like the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas A&M Aggies, and in-state powerhouse Florida State Seminoles.
It's been an outstanding recruiting cycle for Venables and the Sooners. On3 currently has Oklahoma with the No. 9 recruiting class for 2025. 247Sports is even higher on Oklahoma, putting them at No. 5 and behind only Georgia and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC.
Venables is hoping that these top-tier recruiting classes can translate to wins. After a disappointing 6-7 season in his first year as Sooners head coach, he quickly turned the program around en route to a 10-3 record in 2023.
Now that the Sooners are joining the SEC, the pressure is even higher for the program to produce. Thanks to the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff format, Oklahoma will have a very real shot at making it into the bracket for a shot at a national championship in 2024.
With recruiting classes like theirs in 2025, Oklahoma could quickly turn back into a perennial powerhouse under Venables.
