BINI teams up with renowned K-pop producers for ‘Cherry on Top’
If you were among the fortunate attendees or even watched the live stream of the “nation’s girl group’s” first three-day sold-out concert from June 28 to 30, chances are you caught a sneak peek of their upcoming single, “Cherry on Top.”
Following their viral hits “Pantropiko” and “Salamin, Salamin,” this eagerly anticipated release on July 11 features BINI members Colet and Maloi included in the creative process.
Reflecting on their involvement, Colet and Maloi shared insights into the song’s creation during a writer’s camp last year. They collaborated closely with renowned producers Skylar Mones and Shintaro Yasuda, known for their work with international stars as well as K-pop icons.
Yasuda is acclaimed for compositions like Le Sserafim’s hit “Antifragile.” On the other hand, Mones, whose portfolio includes EXO’s “No Matter” and Red Velvet’s “Better Be,” contributed his expertise to ensure the song’s global appeal.
Excitement peaked after the concert as BINI unveiled a preview of the “Cherry on Top” music video. The teaser, captioned “Get ready for the full music video of ‘Cherry On Top’ dropping this July 11, 8PM PHT,” hints at a vibrant production featuring shades of pink and cherry red that highlight the group’s aesthetic.
Prior to its official release, fans will get a special treat: the first 60 seconds of “Cherry on Top” will be playable in the mobile rhythm game Superstar Philippines. This also marks another milestone for BINI, as they become the first international act since EXO to preview a song in the Superstar Series, known for its interactive global music experience.
Furthermore, after all the “BINIverse” regional and North American tours this month and in August, the octet will stage the “Grand BINIverse” day finally in Araneta Coliseum on Oct. 4.
